Almost Home Humane Society (AHHS) was founded in 1939 by a group of local animal lovers in Tippecanoe County. Since its beginning more than 70 years ago, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community.
AHHS is not a government agency, is not affiliated with any national organization, and is not a United Way Agency. They accept all stray animals in need, regardless of age, health or adoptability from the Lafayette and West Lafayette areas. As a local non-profit we exist through the generosity of our community. |
NATALIE'S SECOND CHANCE Give a Dog a Home
|
The Dog Park is located adjacent to the Wabash River, and just minutes from downtown Lafayette, the attractive, tree-lined setting provides park patrons and their dogs with three large fenced areas for large dogs and one fenced area for small dogs. Members can access the Park with a Key Card/Fob, which can be obtained by purchasing a Dog Park Annual Membership or a Week Pass. Park users will find a safe facility to exercise their canine companions, as well as socialize with other dog owners. Dogs will enjoy frolicking with their owners and their dog friends in a place built just for them! The Dog Park is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and administrative duties are handled by the Director of Operations.
Natalie's Second Chance Rescue
We are a no kill dog shelter founded in 2009 and are a 501(c)3, non-profit organization that relies heavily on private individual donations and volunteer services to be able to continue helping homeless dogs. We have a board of directors that helps manage the shelter. Lori's Kitty Rescue and adoption program was created to provide forever homes to the abandoned, sick, injured and pregnant cats of Lafayette and its surrounding communities.
The Loving Heart Animal Shelter is a no-kill animal shelter and adoption organization. Our shelter strives to create an environment which enhances awareness of the humane treatment of animals. The mission of Loving Heart Animal Shelter is to rescue healthy and treatable dogs. This shall include, but is not limited to sick, injured and abused animals, strays, and owner relinquished animals. We will nurture and restore them to happy healthy lives in loving permanent homes. is a private, independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of community members who are dedicated to animal welfare and currently a full time Executive Director. We are funded primarily through private donations and service revenue. We are not controlled or funded by any statewide or national organization. Donations made to national animal welfare groups do not benefit our local pets. We are based in Lafayette, Indiana.
MUSH - Misunderstood Siberian Husky Rescue Our mission is Breed Support, Education, Rehabilitation and Rescue. Based in Elkhart IN 501c 3
North Central Indiana Spay & Neuter is a 501c(3) organization located at Crystal Creek Kennels. NCISN believes that euthanasia is a crime - a crime against our loving companions. Through pro-active rescue, adoption efforts and an affordable spay/neuter program, we can eliminate the use of euthanasia as a method of pet population control. NCISN is endeavoring to reduce the suffering, abandonment, and neglect of companion animals in our community, and reach a goal of no more homeless pets.
At Northern Lights Sled Dog Rescue our mission is to advocate for and/or rescue stray, abandoned, displaced, or abused dogs. In particular we focus on northern breed dogs facing euthanasia in the Midwest/Great Lakes region shelters. Our goal is to place the dogs we rescue in loving, experienced, and secure homes with people who understand and celebrate the unique characteristics of these breeds. Northern Lights is the largest rescuer of northern breeds in Indiana. Since our inception in January, 2004, we have grown in leaps and bounds, having placed hundreds of dogs in new homes. All of our Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, and northern breed mixes are adopted to homes that are thoroughly screened and investigated to ensure the best possible match for each individual dog in terms of the new guardian's experience, lifestyle, and home environment.
PawSwaP is not your typical animal rescue organization. Like most other animal welfare groups, we aim to help community animals by providing them with proper vet care before finding them loving, forever homes. Our approach, however, is unique. We look to keep the animals in their homes whenever possible. If that is not possible, we help the owners re-home their animals safely and responsibly without them ever entering a shelter facility. We utilize foster homes whenever owners have urgent requests or when shelters need assistance.
PawSwaP of Greater Lafayette is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Most animals are in foster homes in or around the Lafayette, Indiana community. Two Bitches Rescue We are a group of women dedicated to saving one dog at a time (typically, there are far more than one). We are a foster based, volunteer group, who pulls “rescue only”, “high kill shelter” dogs at risk, and take on owner surrender dogs. The focus of our organization is the Larger Breeds, as they do not do well in kennels and shelters, often times shutting down and giving up, or a complete change in demeanor.
Wildcat Creek Wildlife Center is a state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilitation center, we have helped over 25,000 native and migratory wildlife since 1995! Our center is located on 80 acres in Carroll County, Indiana (northeast of Delphi.) We have a volunteer staff whose goal is to protect and conserve the wildlife and ecosystem of Indiana.
